ABOUT
GLAAM

Our group was formed by a precious handful of women seeking recovery and place to grow together through service, believing in connection and the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Over time, it has grown into a supportive community rooted in service, shared experience, and mutual respect. This page shares our history, purpose, and how our group continues to carry the message today.

Who We Are

GLAAM is a global home for women in recovery. We are united by one simple desire: to live sober, connected, and free.

We’re not a perfect garden. We’re an honest one.

Rooted in the Twelve Traditions and Principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, we honor unity, anonymity, and service as the foundation of everything we grow here. Recovery isn’t about perfection — it’s about showing up, season after season, and trusting that the right soil changes everything.

Like our Miss Daisy, many of us leaned on the wrong light for longer than we’d like to admit. We went underground more winters than we could count. We weren’t sure we were the right kind of flower for any garden.

And then we found each other.

Every kind of flower grows here — the ones who’ve been blooming for decades and the ones who just cracked open. The loud ones and the quiet ones. The ones who were never sure they belonged anywhere. The ones waiting on new petals.

You belong here. Even if you can’t feel it yet.

We show up as we are, support each other through every season, and trust that together we can bloom into something stronger than we ever could alone. 🌼

What GLAAM Offers

GLAAM is more than a meeting — it’s a circle of women walking the path of sobriety side by side. Whether you are brand new, decades sober, or somewhere in between, you’ll find support, safety, and sisterhood here.

We meet daily online, creating a space for laughter, honesty, healing, and connection. This is a soft place to land — a community where no one has to have all the answers, and everyone has a voice.

How GLAAM Is Guided

We are guided by the spiritual framework of A.A.: the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, 12 Concepts, and 36 Spiritual Principles. These aren’t rules, but time-tested guides that show us how to live with honesty, humility, and connection. They help us grow—personally in recovery, together in unity, and outwardly in service. Service in Action.

Where did GLAAM start and grow from?

GLAAM began in February 2020 when just a few women from different corners of the world met online to maintain and nurture their friendship that sprouted from meeting in person, and to hold AA meetings together, wherever they were. What started as one small weekly gathering quickly grew as more women joined. By March 12th, 2020, GLAAM was officially born.

From two meetings a week with fewer than ten women, the group expanded steadily. By the summer of 2020, meetings were held daily, with service roles taking shape and connections deepening.

Today, GLAAM hosts over a dozen meetings a week, with multiple gatherings on several days. What began as three women holding space for each other has grown into a thriving global sisterhood blessed by hundreds of beautiful women seeking a new way to live — still guided by the same principles of unity, love, and service that lit the very first meeting.

How GLAAM Continues To Carry The Message

Our growth doesn’t stop with ourselves. Service is how GLAAM began and is how we give back what was freely given to us. Whether through sponsorship, meetings, or general service, carrying the message is at the heart of A.A. and GLAAM!
